A new year of room 10 bloggers!

Wow another summer holiday is over and I am ready for another exciting year educating the children of room 10 2012!
I have been busy getting the classroom ready and repotting over 100 swan plants to fill in our class butterfly garden.

Marine Reserves

This week we are reading all about marine reserves and preparing for our trip to the Reotahi marine reserve on Friday.

Bubbles descriptions.

Yeaterday we were blowing bubbles outside with Mrs Allison and we came inside to write about them.

We had to write three amazing sentences to describe the bubbles like some bubbles are rainbows and we had to use our imagination to think about where they would float to.

Animation Fridays!

We went on the, very cool, draw a stickman site http://www.drawastickman.com/ again today and then Mrs Pene set us a challenge of creating our own imaginary animation using a cracking egg as our starting point.

We have some great imaginations and had a very busy afternoon creating our own version of the story.

Imagination rocks!

Last friday we had a book character dress up day and Mrs Pene took photos of us against the green screen in our characters outfits.
Then we discovered how to use the alpha key in keynote and pages to take out the green background and paste ourselves into a new imaginary place chosen by us using google image search.
Once we had created our amazing images we wrote one page of the story to match our picture, trying to remember to use all the things we have learnt this year about how to make our writing capture an audience.

Wacky hair day!

We had a wacky hair day this week, people had crazy hair! 4 people in our class had mohawks,  4 people have wigs and 9 people have coloured hair.
