Caterpillar Update!

Yay - we found new homes for our caterpillars at the Quarry gardens! At lunchtime Billy, Sam and Mrs Pene took about 100 caterpillars and rehoused them. : )

Wild Rumpus

To start our new topic IMAGINE we had a wild hair day and the teachers dressed up as WILD THINGS!

Butterflies everywhere!!

We arrived back at school after the holidays to see with delight that we had lots of tiny caterpillars all over our swan plants in our butterfly garden.

However, 3 weeks later our plants are just about all eaten and we have huge caterpillars everywhere and nothing to feed them!!

HELP!!!!

We have emailed our friends Will and Jax to ask for help in finding new homes for some of our caterpillars and we have contacted Jacqui from the Monarch butterfly trust to see if she can help. We spoke to Jacqui on the phone and she has suggested we try taking some to the quarry, so Mrs Pene will try at lunchtime. Jacqui has also contacted the Northern Advocate to see if they will run a story and get us some more plants or new homes for some of our caterpillars! Can you count all the caterpillars on our plants?

IMAGINE

This week is immersion week for IMAGINE!

We have a special wild wacky hair day today - watch out for the teachers after play! Then we are having a special movie viewing and a wild rumpus! Each day after lunch you will have a different teacher

reading to your room and on Wednesday that teacher will stay all afternoon to do a fun imagine activity!

Thursday is BUBBLE day - so bring your bubble blowers and bubble mix - Mrs Pene is going to blow the biggest bubbles of all and Mrs J has a special surprise!

WHEW!! Another busy immersion week, I can't wait!! : )

Problem Solving Maths Fun!

We are problem solving in maths this term and this is the problem we had to solve today.
The nwe had to work out how many outfits with green shorts and shirt as well!

Confident Kids! Anti-bulling programme.

Yesterday Constable Marnie came in to talk to us about Confident Kids - the anti bullying programme. She talked to us about standing up for ourselves and not letting bullies push us around. Constable Marnie told us about how being confident and treating people with respect helps her in her job.

We are all going to work hard at showing confidence by standing up straight, showing respect, talking clearly, voicing our feelings and taking charge.

Welcome to term 4!

Wow, I can't believe that we are into term 4 already! It promises to be another exciting term with lots of learning and new discoveries. : )

For the first two weeks we are involved in the Confident Kids programme which helps children build positive self esteem and learn strategies to cope with bullying.

Then in week 3 it is into our term 4 focus IMAGINE - we have an arts and literacy focus and will be using our fabulous imaginations.

We have the Marimba man visiting us to teach us music and we will have a special visit from our musical friend the Minstrel with the show Hiwi the Kiwi goes Fishing!
